Hugs For Humanity Visits Augusta Health & Rehabilitation

Augusta Area Schools participated in the district-wide community service project called Hugs For Humanity by dedicating their time and interacting with our residents at Augusta Health & Rehabilitation.
On Thursday, May 3, the four-year-old kindergarten class visited our community and sang songs. Our residents enjoyed visits from the morning and afternoon class, and loved watching them sing and dance! After their cute performances, the students shared a snack with our residents.
On Friday, May 4, the facility welcomed the Second Grade class in the morning as the students impressed our residents with their reading skills. That afternoon, the Fourth Grade class came and played Bingo! Both classes shared a snack with our residents before going back to school.
We really appreciate Augusta Area Schools’ involvement at Augusta Health & Rehabilitation. Our residents are delighted with the energy and joy these students have to share. Thank you to all those who participated!

Augusta Unity Bank Visit

Local Unity Banks are giving back to the community with various volunteer ventures during the month of April.

Recently,  Augusta’s Unity Bank President Teresa Rosengarten and her husband Joe, along with bank employee Judy Harris shared their voices at a singalong with the residents at Augusta Health and Rehab. Everyone enjoyed and appreciated their visit and beautiful voices.

Anew kind of love is apparent within Augusta Health and Rehabilitation and SilverLeaf Assisted Living, as a couple starts their 70th year of marriage together.

“They are both always so happy because they have each other and it’s contagious to everyone around them. We’re happy they’re a part of our family here.” Administrator Jahn Bradley says.

The couple met with they were 18 years old, while George was home from boot camp in preparation for serving in the Marines. They exchanged addresses and for the next 26 months, while he was away, they kept in touch by mail. In 1945, when George came home, their relationship blossomed and they were married in 1947.

George and Loraine Stanek joined Augusta Health and Rehabilitation in 2017, where they particularly enjoy their freedom, the company of their friends, and varying activities and games.

The couple share a spacious room that they’ve made their own and continue to enjoy life as they always have: together.

“Because they have each other, they really do consider this their home. It’s just the next chapter of their lives together.” Bradley says.

Augusta Health and Rehabilitation and SilverLeaf Assisted Living is a senior living community well-known for skilled nursing care, assisted living, and rehabilitation services.
